Introduction
The British Naturalists' Association is a forum for both amateur and professionals. The BNA is the only UK Natural History Organisation that fully recognises the skills, experience and knowledge of its members by having a graded membership system. It is a means by which members can demonstrate to others that they believe in furthering the study of natural history and in acquiring the necessary field skills to achieve this.
(The BNA is the national body for British Naturalists)
Brief History
The British Naturalists' Association is the British national body for naturalists, it is one of the oldest Natural History organisations. It was founded by E.K.Robinson as the British Empire Naturalists Association in 1905. It was established to promote interest in all aspects of Natural History. It is a unique organisation, though quite small as a body in comparison to many other related bodies such as the RSPB. Its membership come from all walks of life and of all age groups. Throughout its history it has been a well respected organisation, and has a distinguished past and present membership list. It is a charitable institution and unlike most other related organisations has no paid officers or staff.
This Local Branch was formed in 2015 by Robert Tansey and David Meanwell (BNA National Branches Officer) and we cover the whole of Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire.
We have an active North Nottinghamshire Group, a South Nottinghamshire Group in the process of being formed, and plans to set up an East Lincolnshire Group in due course. If you live in any of those areas and would like to join or help organise a group, please contact us, no experience needed just enthusiasm.
Our listed affiliated groups and societies welcome membership enquiries.
Why not Join us if you live in the counties of Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire or Derbyshire, for only £20 a year, or if you are a senior citizen only £15, this is the national membership fee, there is no additional fee for belonging to this branch. For an additional £4 each you can add other family members. Local Enquiries: [email protected]

In the last few weeks the Association has lost two of its most valued National Trustees, Barry Kaufman-Wright and Gerald Wilkinson, both will be very much missed by members. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families.
